As many of you already know, I’m spending my New Years in Spain!! It’s been so much fun getting to spend the past week over here participating in the International Winter Training Camp and experiencing all the Spanish traditions. I’m lucky to have been invited to stay with a host family during my time here, and am loving every minute of it!
I spent my New Years surrounded by Taekwondo athletes from Australia, Finland, Brazil, and Portugal, and we had a great time bringing in the new year! We even participated in the Spanish tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight– this was so much fun & I managed to complete the task successfully :D!
I’m not a big believer in needing something like a new week or new year to start making changes, but people make attempts to improve this time of year, and I don’t see any reason to not fully support them. Everyone says New Years Resolutions don’t last, but I have met all of my resolutions each time I have made them. Just stick to your goals, make them as realistic as you want to create them to be, and forget what everyone else thinks– you’re in charge!
We start training again tomorrow and I’m very excited to continue working towards all of my goals. I have never felt physically and mentally stronger, I can’t wait to see everything I’ll be able to accomplish this 2015 🙂 It’s gonna be a great year!! I start off with the Greece Open in 2 weeks, then the US Open, and US Team Trials a bit after. It’s already starting to be a crazy year!
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who’s been supporting me every step of the way so far. I started this journey back in 2011 having no idea the places it would take me, the lessons I’d learn, friends I’d meet, and the positive way it would impact my life. Thank you to my family, my teammates, my students back home(and their parents!), all the different coaches, all the athletes (including the ones who have beaten me and pushed me to train harder), all the referees, sponsors, host families who have taken me in, friends, and everyone along the way giving me words of advice and support.
I appreciate it all beyond what you think.
Now, I’m ready to move onto 2015 and make it phenomenal!!
I hope you also do with me 🙂
