About Me

Thank you for visiting my page.

My name is Samery Moras and I am a 4th Dan Black Belt Taekwondo competitor. I am currently ranked 30th in the World in my Senior Female -46kg Black Belt division. I am also a 5-time (2013-2017) member of the US Collegiate National Team and was on the 2014 US World Cup Team. I am a full-time student at Utah Valley University, teach at and own 2 Taekwondo schools, and train full-time. My goal is to become the best person and athlete I can be, and to inspire others through my journey.

I was born into the world of Taekwondo, as my two sisters and parents all have earned their Black Belts. However, I rebelled from the sport throughout most of my childhood. I hated competing, training, sparring, and anything at all associated with it. It wasn’t until about 14 that I realized the reason I hated these things, was because I feared them. After all, who doesn’t think going into a ring where you’re allowed to kick each other at full power doesn’t seem a little scary? But once I realized this, I made the decision to not let that fear control me, and to overcome it. So far, it’s been a long struggle, but gaining the power to control my mind in order to accomplish all my goals has definitely been worth it. I use everything I have learned so far to teach others. I teach students of all ages and levels, and absolutely love it, they are my true inspiration. It’s about helping kids learn to do things they didn’t think they could do, and seeing them feel proud of themselves and moving on to accomplishing bigger and better things.

For me, it’s about the journey. It’s about the experiences (both good and bad), the people you meet, and the person you become. I hope that throughout my journey, I can become an example and inspiration to others.
